The game
How it plays
-

Capture
Walk up to a wild creature and pet it. If it works, the creature becomes a card you own. Better petting hands work on stronger creatures.
-

Battle
Your party is three creatures. They fight on their own. You choose the party, equip it, and decide when to use the limit break.
-

Devour and rebirth
At the Devouring Altar one creature eats another and learns its passive. At the Pentagram, five creatures are sacrificed to turn a sixth into a new form.

The Devouring Altar
One creature eats another. The devourer keeps its form, learns the other creature's passive, and goes back to level 1. Each devour costs EVO charge, which creatures earn in battle, and the cost goes up by one each time.
Simplified. In the game the devoured creature's gear is also salvaged.

The Pentagram
This is how creatures change form. Put one creature in the centre and five around it. The five are sacrificed and the centre creature becomes something new. You are shown the result first and can accept or refuse it, but the five are lost either way.
The result is usually the centre creature's next form (75%). Each sacrifice adds a 5% chance of its own next form instead. Some specific combinations are recipes with a fixed result. This demo includes one.

Passives
Every creature has its own passive, which is always active. Passives it learned by devouring go into slots, at the level they were learned. Add and remove them to see the stats change.
Each passive can only be slotted once. A creature can slot a second copy of its own passive, and the two stack. More slots unlock as it levels up, to a maximum of ten.

Inventory
Items take up space on a grid. Magic items (blue) are named after their stats. Rare items (yellow) drop unidentified and need a scroll to read. Runes go into sockets permanently, and certain runes in the right order make a runeword.
